Sophomore DeAndre Young has been selected as a sophomore homecoming candidate. This is his second time being a candidate. Young is a sophomore on varsity football; he plays a major role for our football team as the starting running back.
“Being on varsity is very fun,” Young said. “Having to learn a lot from the coaches and just being on the field for a couple more years will be fun.”
Young has played football for 10 years.. Having made runs in every game of the year he proves that just because he’s young doesn’t mean he can’t be a major part of the program. The Bruins are looking to improve this season after a 1-3 start.
“We just have to have fun while we’re out there,” Young said. “Everyone is just thinking too much. We just need to go out and not worry about anything else.”
Young may be a crucial role for our football team but that’s not the only thing he does. In off season Young plays basketball for PWP in Tulsa. PWP is a competitive team that travels over the summer playing in elite tournaments. He is also looking to further his career in football. He is planning on going to college to play. This may be a few years away for Young, but it is something he is focusing on intently.
