Prerna Priyadarshini is a first year homecoming candidate, who is one of six girls representing the senior class.

Priyadarshini was born in India and moved to the United States when she was 6, along with her sister, Priyanka, and her twin brother, Pranoy.

“It was fun living in India,” she said. “I got to be close to my relatives, and that was great.”

She also likes to spend time with her siblings and go on trips with her family. Her favorite trip was going to Niagara Falls.  She has also been to New York and Washington D.C.

Her extracurricular activities include National Honor Society (NHS) and Student Council. NHS has become her main priority because she has worked hard to keep her grades up to continue being a member.

Priyadarshini’s favorite subject is science. This year her favorite class is Biology II.

“Mrs. Henderson is fun and she is one of my favorite teachers,” she said.

In her free time, Priyadarshini likes to watch YouTube videos and the “The Office”. She likes to read books such as “Night”, “Fahrenheit 451” and “The Outsiders”.  Some of her favorite movies include “The Maze Runner”,The Avengers” series and “Captain America”.

Priyadarshini was surprised when she found out she was nominated for homecoming. She said it was unexpected and she never thought she would be nominated.

“I was shocked I got nominated,” she said. “I cried for like two seconds and then got myself back together.”

She was also surprised that all the candidates were from various social groups and diverse backgrounds.

“It was weird but cool to see that not all the candidates came from the same group of friends or people.”

The homecoming king and queen will be announced during halftime during tonight’s game against the Muskogee Roughers. Her homecoming escort is senior Nate Trotter. Priyadarshini is confident the Bruins will win tonight’s game.

“I think we will win because anything can happen if you are confident in winning.”
