The 2016 Bartlesville Sports Hall of Fame Gala is set to take place on Saturday, Nov. 5, at 6 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn.

The gala is a black tie event that honors Bartlesville athletes, coaches and teams. The hall of fame was created in order to honor athletes, coaches, teams and individuals who have made a lasting contribution to athletics and athletic endeavors in the Bartlesville area.

This year the Hall of Fame is going to induct five new teams, coaches and individual athletes at the gala. First, Jim Conner, who graduated from College High School in 1979, was an individual state tennis champion in 1978 and 1979. Two teams are being inducted: the 1989 Bruin basketball team who were the 5A state champions. The team had a record of 23-6. It was a team of 15, including 7 seniors, 5 juniors and 3 sophomores.

The other team is the Phillips 66 Splash Club. This is a community award. Splash Club was founded Dec. 6, 1950, with numerous members receiving state and national honors. The program has developed Junior National Championship, National Championship and Olympic Trials qualifiers, also U.S. Nation Team members, high school All-American swimmers and collegiate swimmers. It is considered one of the finest programs in the nation.
