Virus Report: orange 1, tally changes, clarification from CDC

Sophie Walker, Assistant EIC

As of Friday Sept. 11, Bartlesville is back in Orange 1. To be in level Orange 1 cases must be over 14.38 but under 25.

The Bartlesville School District has moved their tallied cases to a separate spreadsheet which solely focuses on BPSD cases.

Currently there are four positive cases and 42 close contact quarantines in the school district. A significant number of the close-contact quarantines came from Ranch Heights Elementary with a whopping 23 people in isolation currently, seven are from BHS, and eight are from Madison Middle School.

The previous guideline change on the CDC website has been blowing up in the media lately for “insensitivity”. It was stated in a way that left room for it to be taken out of context. It led some individuals to believe that if they asymptomatic individuals who had been exposed, to not get tested. Whereas it was supposed to mean that if the individual were asymptomatic to get tested based on professional medical advice.
